Poppies is the name of our handicraft group.  Originally a few people were those who came together to create the Christmas tree in Piddington church.  Then in 2017/18 a commemoration for the end of the First World War led to the creation of a large number of poppies for a commemoration which was displayed in Piddington church and at the war memorial.  The group of people who had worked on the poppies, knitted, crocheted and sewn decided to formalise the group and call themselves ‘Poppies’.  Since then the group, which is open to any WI member, have worked on banners for the Chapel. coffee@carey, three lots of banners which denote Spring and Summer, Autumn and Winter.  We have also produced banners for various royal commemorations and Christmas stockings for children in Northampton.  The group meet on an ad hoc basis to decide what to do and share skills and enjoy tea and cake!  Currently we propose to work towards a fundraiser in aid of the chapel kitchen/toilet rebuild.
